Link Calisthenics Workout Plan

How to build Link's physique with Calisthenics

In this segment of the Video Game Training Series, we’re covering the full workout inspired by the legendary Hero of Hyrule: Link from The Legend of Zelda.

To train like Link, we’re building a body that is:

  • Lean and mobile

  • Highly coordinated

  • Adventure‑ready

  • Strong through the back, core, and legs

This routine uses the Action Hero System:

  • Calisthenics for strength

  • Jump rope for endurance and performance

Let’s get into it.

Physical Stats

Name: Link

Height: 5’7”

Physique Type: Lean, agile, athletic

Abilities:

  • Exceptional climbing stamina

  • High agility and mobility

  • Swordsmanship and parrying skill

  • Explosive lower‑body power

  • Adventure‑ready endurance

Link Training Principles

1. The Climber’s Pull (Stamina Wheel Back & Grip)

Link spends half his journey scaling cliffs, towers, and mountains. This demands:

  • Upper‑back endurance

  • Iron grip strength

  • Vertical pulling power

We emphasize strict pull‑ups, timed hangs, and grip‑dominant pulling to build an indestructible back.

2. Master Sword Parrying (Core Stability)

Deflecting blows from Lynels, Guardians, and Moblins requires a core that acts like a shield. We focus on:

  • Total‑body bracing

  • Rotational control

  • Anti‑flexion stability

This ensures seamless power transfer through the upper body.

3. The Hylian Spring (Agile Leg Power)

Link sprints, dodge‑rolls, leaps off cliffs, and performs acrobatic maneuvers. To train this:

  • Single‑leg variations

  • Plyometrics

  • Footwork‑focused mechanics

This builds explosive lower‑body power and bulletproof ankle stability.

This workout follows the Action Hero System, using a simple structure:

  • Push

  • Pull

  • Full Body

If you prefer a simpler approach, use the Full Body structure as a plug‑and‑play workout. Every full‑body session should include:

  • Push

  • Pull

  • Lower Body

  • Single‑Leg Work

  • Core

For an added challenge, include 10–15 minutes of jump rope before or after each session. No jump rope? Do Jumping Jacks for half the allotted time.
